Its snacking time and if you are like me, your mind churns around mulling options to satisfy your tummy from growling. So let’s see what are the stuff that one can reach out for, there is the ubiquitous biscuits full of taste but devoid of any nutritive values then there are fried snacks like Samosa extremely fatty, filling and definitely needs to be avoided (kinda watching my weight these days :-). So finally after much debate between my brain and heart comes a product in between, sunflower seeds! Have been hearing a lot about these beautiful seeds of late. So lets check it out.
Sunflowers seeds are these beautiful pearl shaped (hulled seeds) seeds which have a nutty taste to it. Ideally I prefer it to have the sunflower seeds with a slight roast and salt on it (to add to taste). However you can also buy the same without roast or salting.
They Keep You Calm – Yep, darn right. Since sunflower seeds have super cool quantities of magnesium in it, it helps you to keep calm and soothes your body.
Helps fight cancer – The selenium content present in sunflower seeds are known to be a good cancer fighting agent.
Keeps heart troubles away – I mean the physical ones! Experts are of the view that just ¼ cup of sunflower seeds disallow the “bad” cholesterol in your body from sticking on the walls of your arteries; thus preventing heart attacks.
Has Anti-inflammatory properties – As sunflower seeds are loaded with antioxidants, it helps in easing joint pains, gastric ulcers, skin eruptions & such.
Brings glow to your skin! – Well, Ahem this one is for the ladies, the Vitamin E in sunflower seeds keeps you skin protected from UV rays & gets you that healthy glow!
Due to their crunchy & nutty flavor, sunflower seeds can be easily had just like that or just sprinkle it over your favorite salad or grind them and add to your rotis!
